helps citizens crime proof their homes. |

Championed the successful increase in by-law enforcement and
community patrolling. |

Prudent and Responsible Government |

Demanded strict fiscal reporting and accountable spending of tax
dollars. |

Forced the tendering of the City’s banking contract saving
taxpayers $20,000 a year in increased revenue interest and
decreased service fees. |

Promotion of Selkirk's recycling program as a cost cutting
measure. When Selkirk reaches it's goal of 80% of waste
diversion, over $200,000 of your tax dollars will be saved
annually! |

As
chair of Selkirk's Audit committee, Duane has proposed strict
new internal controls and a strengthened mandate for the audit
committee. |

to useful community information, where people can see what
actions I am taking as their elected representative, and to

Economic Development |

Involved in the dramatic increase of commercial and residential
development in Selkirk. |

Worked closely with the Selkirk and District Chamber of Commerce
as the City of Selkirk Council Representative and served on the
Chamber's board of directors. |

Worked with the Selkirk and District Chamber of Commerce to
establish and promote the "Shop Locally" gift certificate
program. |

Worked to ensure new development in the city is done in a
sustainable manner. |

Proposed the establishment of a transit system which will help
to attract new residential, industrial, and commercial
development. |

Worked with community organizations to bring affordable housing
solutions to our community. |

Championed the development of a marketing campaign to attract
more movie production in Selkirk. |

recycling programs and development of other "green" policies. |

Participated in the successful expansion of Selkirk’s nationally
recognized recycling program. |

Worked with council and administration to implement Selkirk's
centralized yard waste composting program. |

Proposed installation of recyclable materials collection
receptacles along Main St, Manitoba Ave, and the Water Front
Development. |

Chaired the Selkirk Transit Taskforce. If the recommendations
are implemented greenhouse gas emissions will be reduce. |

Current chairs Selkirk Councils standing Transit standing
committee which is developing the business plan for Selkirk's
first transit system. |

Proposed a water conservation program to better manage our
delicate ground water resource and save citizens money on their
water bills. |

Working with council and administration towards the goal of
storm sewer separation, thus eliminating the potential for the
release of Selkirk's raw sewage in to the Red River during high
precipitation events. |

Endorsed the Responsible Electronics Recycling Program which
would divert dangerous electronics waste from our landfills and
create jobs in our community. |

Championed Selkirk's joining of the East Interlake Conservation
District. Duane now site as Selkirk Council representative to
this organization. |
